David Lammy was skewered on Good Morning Britain by Kate Garraway as he faces increasing pressure following a huge prison row. It comes after the Deputy Prime Minister refused five times to say whether an asylum seeker had been mistakenly released from prison. Host Kate Garraway spoke to Justice minister Alex Davies-Jones over the latest blunder and did not hold back when it came to asking her where the Deputy Prime Minister was. A major manhunt was taking place on Wednesday night after it was revealed Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, a 24-year-old Algerian, was wrongly freed a week ago.
Kate Garraway said in a brutal takedown: “Why isn’t Justice Secretary David Lammy here? It’s his name that’s in the frame. It’s him who didn’t answer the question. Why has he put you up to take the flak?”
Alex explained that David will be speaking later to the media later today, but Ed Balls wasn’t having any of it. He continued to grill her: “He five times failed to answer that question in Parliament! To be quite honest, he could have explained what was on his mind. Very hard to ask you why he did that.”
