Football Manager 26 is finally here. After two long years, Sports Interactive’s flagship sports management simulator made its return to digital store shelves on November 4. However, due to one or two issues across the board, fans are counting down to the release of the game’s first major update.
After two weeks of early access, players criticised the new-look User Interface (UI), not to mention the absence of key features like international management at launch. That’s on top of all of the game’s various technological hitches and bugs.
Fortunately, however, the development team has been working on the first FM26 update, and it’s coming to select Steam users later this week.
In a post on the Sports Interactive Community Page, administrator Dan Sheppard confirmed that the game’s next update will be available on Steam via the public beta track from November 5.
“From Wednesday this week (05/11), our next update will be available on Steam via public beta track and, subject to the submissions process, we’ll be aiming to roll that out to everyone quickly thereafter.”
While Sports Interactive is yet to reveal the patch notes, Sheppard confirms that the update will include very limited changes to the database.
“The full changelist for the next update will include very limited changes to the database. Outside of these, all changes will be save compatible.”
Daily Express has contacted Sports Interactive for more details about the imminent patch.
Fans will be hoping this is one of a number of updates rolled out by Sports Interactive in the coming weeks.
The development team has already tackled one or two of the game’s problems, which bodes well for the future.
For example, at the time of publication for our review, Daily Express criticised the game for the inability to compare two players at once, but this has since been resolved.
Sports Interactive has also promised a number of content updates over the course of the next year or so, with international management being introduced ahead of next year’s FIFA World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.
