A hero by-stander used a fire extinguisher to save a man on ablaze in the middle of a busy city street. Harrowing video captured the man covered head-to-toe in flames staggering around a road in the Newtown area of Birmingham.
Several passers-by rush over to help – including one quick-thinking member of the public who uses a fire extinguisher to quickly douse the flames. The disturbing footage shows how the extreme heat melted away most of victim’s clothes, but incredibly he remains standing up and walking around.
After the flames are extinguished, the man can be seen pacing in the road with nearby cars stopped as the bizarre scene unfolds. Another member of the public appears to be trying to talk to the man who must be in a degree of pain from the burns he has just suffered.
A second clip shows the man talking to police and fire crews who rushed to the scene following the incident, which is believed to happened on Wednesday. In footage obtained by Birmz Is Grime, an onlooker can claimed the unidenfified man had set himself alight with a “petrol can”.

According to the NHS, when confronted with anyone suffering from a burn it is vital to get them away from the heat source as soon as possible and seek medical assistance.
The health body advises the removal of any clothing or jewellery that’s near the burnt area of skin, but adds “do not move anything that’s stuck to the skin”.
Advice on the NHS website adds: “You should go to a hospital A&E department for all chemical and electrical burns, large or deep burns – any burn bigger than the injured person’s hand, burns that cause white or charred skin and burns on the face, neck, hands, feet, any joints or genitals.”
