Trent Alexander-Arnold sends warning to Liverpool with two-word statement | Football | Sport

Trent Alexander-Arnold has given a hint that he’s on track to be fit for a reunion with Liverpool in a stern warning to his former club. The England international waved goodbye to his childhood team this summer when he made a £10million move to Real Madrid. He was initially set to transfer to the Spanish capital on a free deal, as his contract with the Reds was due to end, but the La Liga titans ultimately paid Liverpool to release the defender from the final month of his contract so he could play in the Club World Cup.

So far, Alexander-Arnold has played 10 matches for Real Madrid, but his start in Spain has been somewhat mixed. He found himself alternating between being in and out of Xabi Alonso’s starting line-up and only started two La Liga games before suffering a hamstring injury in the early moments of Real Madrid’s win over Marseille in the Champions League in mid-September.

Having been sidelined for a month, Alexander-Arnold was initially doubtful for the upcoming Champions League match against Liverpool next month.

The Reds are scheduled to host Real Madrid in early November, with the two clubs renewing hostilities under the lights at Anfield.

The defender has now given his team a boost after he was seen returning to light training during October’s international break.

On Wednesday, Alexander-Arnold posted two photos of himself training on the grass with a ball on his Instagram account, along with a third image of himself giving a thumbs up to the camera from the plunge pool.

Accompanying the images, he penned: “Back soon,” followed by both a ‘soon with rightwards arrow’ and ‘hourglass with flowing sand’ emojis.

The Athletic revealed on Monday that Real Madrid’s medical team are hopeful that Alexander-Arnold could recover from his injury in time to face Barcelona in the season’s first El Clasico later this month.

Following the international break, the Spanish titans will return to action away at Getafe on 19 October, before welcoming Juventus in the Champions League on 22 October.

They will entertain Valencia on 1 November before their journey to Anfield on 4 November.

To date, Alexander-Arnold has been absent for five matches due to his hamstring injury.
