Netflix fans rush to see documentary that’s ‘scarier than horror film’ | UK | News

People have been left feeling uneasy after watching Netflix’s new documentary about victims of real-life hauntings.

The five-part series has sparked a discussion on social media, with movie lover EccyReviews recommending it to those who love spooky films and TV shows.

He says the documentary True Hauntings is “creepier than most horror films” – and can easily be binge-watched in one evening.

He said: “Netflix have dropped a brand-new documentary series that you need to add to your watch list immediately.”

It tells the story of two different hauntings – one involving a young boy who is being haunted in college by a “evil spirit,” and the other involving a haunted mansion.

EccyReviews adds: “If you’re a fan of hauntings and paranormal activity stuff then this is going to be right up your street.”

Commenting on his video, one user said: “Watched all tonight, very scary to think these things are happening.”

Another user added: “The twist at the end makes it even creepier!”

A third user said: “Went to Geneseo during this time. Lived in Erie. Everyone knew it was happening. I was always spooked out staying alone there when my roommate was away. I didn’t know the kids that this happened to. I’m in the picture in episode 3.”

One more user added: “I’m on episode 3, dude it’s creepy. I’ve never seen anything like this.”

On IMDb, on viewer commented: “Are the re-enactments dramatised? Yes. Did they give you that disclaimer that at the beginning of every episode? Also, yes.

“Overall, I felt like the actors did a pretty solid job in portraying their characters. The stories were well told and it’s understood that re-enactments can tend to be a bit embellished to keep an audience engaged.

“They held interviews with the real people who experienced these hauntings, the emotions felt authentic, and the creators did a great job in bringing these experiences to life.

“Overall, I was drawn in, entertained, and I felt like this hit the perfect spot for the spooky season. Don’t skip this one.”

Another added: “So I’ve watched a lot of these kinds of series. Most of them are cheesy and make my eyes roll.

“This one, however, had a real true crimes feel to it… The series has you connecting with the individuals when sharing their experience with death.

“The feelings that everybody was sharing seemed really genuine and everybody seemed a little shaken up by what had happened. They did a good job with the theatrics and re-enactment as well.

“I jumped a couple of times. It was kind of scary and I haven’t said that about any of the series I have watched so far. Definitely worth watching forming your own opinion! Watch with a friend… Tis the season.”
