US President Donald Trump’s row with mainstream media continues, this time over a photo he said is “the Worst of All Time”. In a Truth Social post, Trump complained on Tuesday about the Time Magazine cover photo accompanying a complimentary feature on his Middle East peace deal.
“Time Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time,” Trump wrote. “They ‘disappeared’ my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one. Really weird!” He said the image was “a super bad picture that deserves to be called out.” The post came hours after Trump addressed the Israeli parliament to talk about the new Gaza deal.
The Time magazine cover, revealed on Monday with the headline “His Triumph”, shows a photo of Trump taken from a low angle, depicting the former president looking upward and illuminated by bright sunlight behind him. The magazine acknowledges Trump’s “signature achievement” of his second term, claiming it was a “strategic turning point” in the Middle East.
But as well as making his hair look wispy, the angle also draws attention to the many folds of sagging skin beneath his chin.
In a series of comments, people took to Reddit to express their opinions on the issue.
“Soon it will be against the law to take a bad photo of the Dear Leader…”, one wrote. Another added: “That cover photo really does him no favors, it almost looks like they edited the lighting to make it worse.”
The president has faced both criticism and praise for his handling of Middle East diplomacy. He has a long and complex relationship with Time Magazine. The publication has frequently featured him on its cover — not always in a flattering light — but has also twice named him its Person of the Year.
