Discussing Meghan’s trip – and her two outfits – he told The Cut: “Meghan and I met some years ago, and we’ve been texting ever since. She reached out and said she’d love to come to the show.”
He added: “There was no strategy or big orchestration”.
The designer then added: “I didn’t tell anyone she was coming because I wanted it to stay a surprise. In fashion, real surprises are rare, and this one was beautiful”.
A video, which was posted by @saintleon on TikTok, showed Meghan going in for a kiss on the cheek to congratulate Piccioli on his Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear design – but instead she appeared to hit her nose on his sunglasses.
As the cameras were on them, the designer appeared to laugh off the incident before grabbing Meghan’s hand to get a picture taken together.
After thanking the designer, Meghan then ended the encounter with a brief hug.
Speaking about Meghan, a spokesperson said that she admired Piccioli’s “craftsmanship and modern elegance”.
The mum-of-two was also seen greeting Vogue’s global editorial director Anna Wintour and Australian film director Baz Luhrmann.
