It looks like Sony is in prime position to capitalise on the backlash to the recent Xbox Game Pass price increases, especially if the latest PlayStation Plus leak is to be believed.
Fresh off the back of making Alan Wake 2 available for PS Plus Essential subscribers, Sony is reportedly planning to add another high-profile horror game to the Extra catalog later this month.
According to industry insider billbil-kun, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake will join PlayStation Plus Extra in time for Halloween.
In a post on DealLabs, billbil-kun believes the PS Plus Extra release will coincide with the loss of console exclusivity for Silent Hill 2 Remake.
This ties into a recent report that suggests Silent Hill 2 Remake could come to additional platforms, including Xbox Series X|S and potentially the Switch 2.
The PS Plus Extra games will officially be announced on October 15, and will be available to download and play on October 21.
Last year’s Silent Hill 2 remake benefits from enhanced visuals and sound, as well as various other quality of life improvements.
It also adopts the popular over-the-shoulder gameplay style popularised by fellow survival horror games like Resident Evil 4.
Indeed, the combat system has been updated with new moves such as the ability to dodge attacks and aim down sights.
While Bloober Team has been keen to retain the spirit of the original and not change too much, fans can also explore new locations and buildings that were previously inaccessible.
Speaking of PS Plus, the latest batch of Essentials include Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3 and Cocoon. Subscribers have until November 4 to grab the titles.
