I’ve tested each and every one of these four devices. All four are solid fitness trackers with more features as the price increases, but I really do think the cheaper Inspire 3 and Charge 6 are the best ones to go for for most people.
At £59.99, the only thing the Inspire 3 is missing is built-in GPS. This means if you want to track your running, hiking and cycling routes then you need to take your phone with you, which the Fitbit connects to in order to trace your route.
Aside from that, the Inspire 3 is fully featured, tracking steps, distance, calories burned, heart rate and sleep if you wear it all day and night, which isn’t an issue because it’s also the Fitbit with the longest battery life at up to 10 days.

If you want GPS but still in a slim form factor, the £99.99 Fitbit Charge 6 could be the one for you. It also gains Google Maps turn by turn directions and even Google Wallet so you can make contactless payments from your wrist.
The Fitbit Versa 4, on sale for £129.99, is marketed as a smartwatch, but I’d say it is more a fitness tracker with a larger, watchlike screen. That’s because it can’t download third party apps and doesn’t have too many ‘smart’ features – but if you want a watch and also want to easily read incoming message notifications on your wrist, it’s an ideal choice.
It has the Google Maps and Wallet apps, plus when on a workout your live stats are easier to read thanks to the bigger screen. It also has an always on display option so you can glance down at the time and not be faced with a blank screen you have to raise your wrist to activate.
At the top of the line is the Fitbit Sense 2, down to £169.99. It looks very similar to the Versa 4 and has many of the same features, but it adds in stress monitoring. This can be set to automatically detect changes in skin temperature, which have been linked to changes in mood. The watch can prompt you to log how you feel when this happens, and you can view all the results and data in the Fitbit app.
All these Fitbits work out of the box with the Fitbit app for iPhone or Android, but there is an optional Fitbit Premium subscription you can pay for if you want to get all of the features. This includes deeper insights into your collected data and access to things such as video coaching workouts. It costs £7.99 per month, buy buying any of these Fitbits will get you a free six month subscription.
