Trump gives ‘massive bloodshed’ warning despite ‘very positive’ talks with Hamas | US | News

President Donald Trump said that he has been told that the first phase of his 20-point peace plan to end Israel’s war in Gaza “should be completed this week”, adding that he is asking everyone to “MOVE FAST.”

Taking to his Truth Social account, Trump wrote: “There have been very positive discussions with Hamas, and Countries from all over the World (Arab, Muslim, and everyone else) this weekend, to release the Hostages, end the War in Gaza but, more importantly, finally have long sought PEACE in the Middle East. These talks have been very successful, and proceeding rapidly. The technical teams will again meet Monday, in Egypt, to work through and clarify the final details. I am told that the first phase should be completed this week, and I am asking everyone to MOVE FAST. I will continue to monitor this Centuries old “conflict.” TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE OR, MASSIVE BLOODSHED WILL FOLLOW — SOMETHING THAT NOBODY WANTS TO SEE!”

On Monday President Donald Trump announced the “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict”- a 20-point proposal that called for the release of all Israeli hostages to be freed.

Hamas agreed to some parts of the peace plan, including releasing hostages and handing over Gaza governance to Palestinian technocrats, but is seeking negotiations on other issues.

“In this context, the movement affirms its readiness to immediately enter into negotiations through the mediators to discuss the details of this agreement,” Hamas said in a statement. The response did not touch upon the key demands of its disarmament and playing no role in Gaza’s governance.

When asked about flexibility, Trump told reporters “we don’t need flexibility because everybody has pretty much agreed to it, but there will always be some changes”.

DON’T MISS…

Hamas agreed to hand over the administration of Gaza to an independent body of Palestinian leaders “based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support.”

“Other issues mentioned in President Trump’s proposal regarding the future of the Gaza Strip and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are connected to a unified national position and relevant international laws and resolutions.”

On Friday, Trump announced that Hamas was “ready for a lasting PEACE,” and ordered that Israel “must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza.”

Just hours later, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 20 people. Gaza’s Ministry of Health said that at least 66 people were killed and 250 were injured, within 24 hours, on Saturday.

Since Oct. 7 over 200 journalists and media workers have lost their lives in Gaza since October 2023, the Committee to Protect Journalists reports. Israel has simultaneously blocked independent journalists from entering the enclave to confirm their assertions.
