'Intense' thriller fans have called a 'hidden gem' on Prime Video

It’s that time of the year again… summer has departed, autumn is fast approaching, and we’re of course talking all things Halloween. Prime Video is brimming with cosy cult classics, iconic horror shows, and some hidden gems – so you’re guaranteed to get your spooky film fix no matter what. One 2015 film, which received rave reviews from fans, has a whopping score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Green Room is not your typical spooky Halloween film, and it is written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Soul-nay), as well as starring Patrick Stewart and the late Anton Yelchin. Originally premiering at festivals in 2015, Green Room didn’t get a mainstream release until early 2016.

Once it finally hit the masses, the film quickly garnered attention around the world. Green Room is about a struggling punk band that got into the wrong place at the wrong time. Without giving too much away, they have to fight for their lives.

The band is then subjected to playing a mouse-and-cat game with a group of maniacal skinheads. According to spoiler-free reviews, the film isn’t for the faint-hearted. It is apparently a brutally violent film, with loads of gore. But that being said, the reviews are exceptional.

On IMDb, one person said: “Hidden gem. It’s a really great indie film. Keeps you engaged. Lots of twists and turns. Great acting. Don’t watch any trailers or read spoiler reviews.”

A second person also echoed similarly: “It’s a really great horror/thriller film with a lot of cathartic moments. As I said, it’s tough to watch at times. This is in a good way, however, since the viewer roots for the main protagonists so much. I would highly recommend.”

A third also said: “Green Room is one of those movies that grabs you right from the start and refuses to let go. The tension is legit, and Jeremy Saulnier does a great job keeping things tight and gritty without overdoing it. The whole punk band-in-danger setup works really well, and you can feel the desperation in every scene.”

The official synopsis teases: “Members (Anton Yelchin, Alia Shawkat) of a punk-rock band and a tough young woman (Imogen Poots) battle murderous white supremacists at a remote Oregon roadhouse.”

Green Room can be streamed on Amazon Prime now.
