Whether you like it or not, autumn is well and truly here – and it’s the perfect time to give your home a bit of a refresh before the winter. People always talk about spring cleaning, but doing the same in autumn is a great way to prepare for the chilly season ahead.
If you live in an old building like me, you’ll know the struggle of trying to keep your floors clean and shiny. Dust seems to appear as if from nowhere, and finding products that give you that enviable gleam isn’t always easy. However, after recently cleaning mine with one cheap and versatile item, the floors looked amazing – and my whole home smelled like autumn too.
My hall, kitchen and living room all have wooden flooring, so it’s the first thing you see when you walk in the door. Naturally, I want it to always be looking its best – but this is a lot easier said than done.
And when it comes to floor cleaners, it’s really rare that I find one that I like. They often smell way too chemical-heavy – which I know is the preference for some people, but I want cosy vibes only.
You really can’t get much more autumnal and cosy than the smell of pumpkin, and fans of this classic scent will want to run to their nearest B&M, Heron or anywhere else that stocks Fabulosa. The cleaning company has brought out a range of pumpkin-scented products that are perfect for giving your home that autumn refresh.
After testing out the Perfect Pumpkin cleaner on my flooring, I was so impressed. It instantly got rid of spillages and lingering dirt, and left behind a gorgeous scent that lasted for hours.
How to clean your floors
When your floors need cleaning pretty much every day, you’ve got to get creative with how you do it. I’ve tried out three different products from the pumpkin range, and found that the concentrated multipurpose disinfectant actually worked the best.
All you need to do is dilute a couple of capfuls in a bucket of warm water and mop away, making sure to wring it out every so often to get the best clean.
As you can see above, it works fantastically on tiles as well as wooden floors. The cosy pumpkin smell that it left behind was unlike any other cleaning product I’d used before, and it actually stuck around too, which is rare.
There’s also a dedicated floor cleaner in the range too, but in my opinion, the concentrated cleaner actually worked a lot better. I’d say it’s also better value for money too, since you can use it to clean far more areas of your home, such as toilets, sinks, bins and so much more.
Just out of curiosity, I also tested the multipurpose cleaning spray on the flooring too. Spraying a bit on the floor and then using my Flash mop to buff it in, I noticed that it did leave a shine – but it faded away a lot faster, and the scent didn’t last long either. However, this was great for smaller jobs like wiping down kitchen worktops and cabinets, and even cleaning inside of the fridge too.
Overall, the concentrated cleaner was the clear winner. Sweet, spicy and cosy-smelling, with intense cleaning power too, it’s a must-buy for pumpkin fans this autumn. The range starts from just £1 and you can pick it up from B&M.
