It is believed that William’s response to Andrew’s attempt to converse with him on Tuesday shows that the future King is still keen to keep Andrew, who has been involved in various scandals over the year, far away from royal life.
As reported by The Mirror, royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News earlier this year that William is distant from his uncle and wants him to “vanish” from the public eye.
Fordwich said: “Prince William has long had a strained and distant relationship with Andrew.
“Andrew’s future within the Royal Family is beyond bleak, since Prince William is firmly opposed to any public rehabilitation with no foreseeable path back. He wants Andrew to vanish from public view.”
The Duke of York has been seen less and less with his royal relatives over the last few years, with reports suggesting he hardly leaves his Royal Lodge home in Windsor.
This is because Prince Andrew is increasingly unpopular among the British public, especially following allegations that he sexually abused one of his former friend and convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s victims – Virginia Giuffre.
Andrew, who is not a working royal anymore, has always strongly denied such allegations and sorted out an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre with no admission of liability.
While the King has since invited his brother Andrew to family events such as summer at Balmoral Castle and Christmas at Sandringham, it is believed William will not offer the same treatment when he one day becomes King.
