Now, a senior White House official has revealed that the King set a high bar for the President, who reportedly wants to invite the monarch to the US soon.
The official told The Telegraph: “It was a really fantastic trip. The British know how to do this perfectly.
“They set the bar high for their trip to see us.”
There is currently no plan set in stone for Charles and Camilla to visit the US, however it is believed the Trump administration wants to give the UK a key role in the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of US independence next year and could invite Their Majesties to the country.
The US President and King Charles are believed to be good friends, with Trump having referred to the monarch as his friend on multiple occasions.
Trump has also made it clear that he thinks Charles is a very successful monarch, telling reporters as he left Windsor Castle yesterday: “He’s a great gentleman and a great King.”
The President made similar comments before he left for the UK earlier this week. Ahead of the state visit, he said: “They’re (King Charles and Queen Camilla) friends of mine for a long time, long before he was King.
“I think he represents the country so well. He’s such an elegant gentleman and he represents the country so well.”
