The Duchess of Kent’s funeral took place in London today, with many members of the Royal Family in attendance. The late royal passed away at the age of 92 on September 4, 2025.
The funeral began at 2pm today and marked the first Catholic funeral held for a member of the Royal Family since the Reformation. The late royal’s death was announced by Buckingham Palace on September 5, with a statement that read: “It is with deep sorrow that Buckingham Palace announces the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night [September 4] at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family.
“The King and Queen and all Members of The Royal Family join The Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren in mourning their loss and remembering fondly The Duchess’s life-long devotion to all the organisations with which she was associated, her passion for music and her empathy for young people.”
Stepping out in attendance today, King Charles was joined by members of his family. Earlier today, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Camilla would not be joining her husband due to illness.
Sharing news of Camilla’s absence, Buckingham Palace’s statement read: “With great regret, Her Majesty The Queen has withdrawn from attendance at this afternoon’s Requiem Mass for The Duchess of Kent as she is recovering from acute sinusitis. Her thoughts and prayers will be with The Duke of Kent and all the family.”
The Duke of Kent was also present, along with the following family members; the Earl and Countess of St. Andrews, Lord Downpatrick, Lady Marina-Charlotte Windsor, Lady Amelia Windsor, Mr. Timothy and the Lady Helen Taylor, Mr. Cassius Taylor, Mr. Columbus Taylor, Miss Eloise Taylor, Miss Estella Taylor, The Lord Nicholas Windsor, Mr. Albert Windsor, Mr. Leopold Windsor and Mr. Louis Windsor.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were pictured arriving at the service at Westminster Cathedral this afternoon, with the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson also in attendance.
Other royals who attended the late royal’s funeral today includes the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Earl and Countess of Ulster, Mr George and the Lady Rose Gilman, the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, the Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor and Lady Gabriella Windsor.
Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy, Mr. and Mrs. James Ogilvy, Mr. Alexander Ogilvy, Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Vesterberg, Miss Marina Ogilvy, Mr. Christian Mowatt, Miss Zenouska Mowatt were also present today.
The Earl of Snowdon was also joined by Mr. Daniel and the Lady Sarah Chatto and their son, Mr. Samuel Chatto.
