Travelling on a plane can be a stressful experience, especially if you’re forced to sit next to strangers on hours on end. However, this is not an excuse for being rude to those around you.
This is something that a woman named Charlotte wanted to teach the passenger who she was seated next to on her recent plane journey, as she claimed he had been ‘rude’ to everyone around him for no apparent reason. Because of this, she decided to get her petty revenge on him.
Taking to TikTok to share her story, Charlotte started by saying she got on her plane and walking up to her row, where she had been assigned the middle seat. However, a man was sat in the aisle seat, so she kindly asked if he could stand up to let her in to her seat.
“I said ‘excuse me sir, I just need to get through to that seat cause I’m sitting there’,” she recalled.
Charlotte went on to say this had made the man stare at her with an emotionless look before huffing, not saying a word to her, before standing up. He grabbed his bag from under the seat in front of him as he moved to let her through.
However, as they were sat on the over wing exit row, most airlines prohibit passengers sitting on this row to keep their luggage under the seat in front of them. Instead, these bags need to be stored in the overhead compartments. Because of this, a crew member asked the male passenger to put his bag in the overhead locker, leading to him staring at them as well before sighing loudly before doing what he was told.
And while the man didn’t say a word the entire flight, Charlotte also claimed she could feel him elbowing her multiple times to try to get her to move to give himself more space. But every time she looked over to him, he would ‘pretend to sleep’.
Clearly annoyed by him at the end of the flight, Charlotte made sure to get her revenge as they were all preparing to disembark the plane.
“When we were getting off the plane, a woman and a child needed to get off before him, as they were sat in the row in front of us,” she explained, as it’s ‘plane etiquette’ to let the people in the rows in front of you get out first.
“He just stood there going [big sighs] so loud so everybody could hear,” she said.
Explaining she knew the man spoke English because she’d seen his phone was on an English setting, she decided to get her petty revenge on the man.
“Because he was so rude to everybody that he bumped into this morning, I decided to tell him that he had poo on the back of trousers,” she revealed, saying he did in fact not have poo on his trousers. “But now he think he does. And yes, I am that petty when it comes to airport etiquette.
“Nobody really likes travelling anyway, so just be nice about it,” she said.
People quickly took to the comment section of the video, with many praising Charlotte for her actions.
“I love this level of pettiness!” one viewer commented, while another person said: “Gonna start carrying a pot of Nutella on me just to seal the deal.”
Someone else said: “I don’t know why people are so rude it costs nothing to be nice. What did he expect you to do?”
