Renault is understood to have issued a recall notice over five models due to a potentially dangerous car defect. According to AutoExpress, the issue is related to the car’s electronic parking brake system.
Around 100 cars in the UK are believed to be impacted by the latest action with five model ranges affected. Key vehicles caught out by the latest problem are relieved to include the Renault Austral, Captur, Megane E-Tech, Scenic E-Tech and Rafale.
It is understood that models affected were all built by the French brand between April 2024 and January 2025. The main cause of the issue is believed to stem from an incorrectly angled position sensor placed inside the parking brake actuator.
AutoExpress warned that this can lead to the stopping pin being placed incorrectly meaning the parking brake is properly engaged when motorists press the P button.
