Prince Harry has shared that he doesn’t “believe that [he] aired [his] dirty laundry in public” in a new interview despite making several explosive claims about the Royal Family over the years. The royal, who is celebrating his 41st birthday today, travelled back to the UK last week to conduct a host of charitable engagements – as well as meeting King Charles for the first time in 19 months.
The former working royal has been at loggerheads with the Royal Family for some time and, since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Harry has made some explosive claims regarding members of the Firm. In his bombshell memoir Spare, which was first released in January 2023, Harry recalled a “physical fight” with Prince William that took place in 2019 – as well as describing Queen Camilla as “evil” and “wicked”.
Harry has also spoken out via televised interviews and magazine publications – as well as sharing a series of claims in his joint Oprah Winfrey interview with Meghan Markle in March 2021.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Guardian during his recent trip to Ukraine, Harry shared that he knows people will be “annoyed” by his choice to speak out.
He said: “I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative. The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.”
Harry also shared how he feels that his “conscience is clear” when it comes to projecting his views and feelings.
The royal, who is a dad to Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, added: “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.”
In the new interview, Harry didn’t share much about his meeting with the King, although he did reveal that “the focus really has to be on my dad” over the coming year.
He also revealed that his visit to his home country last week has made the possibility of bringing Archie and Lilibet to the UK “closer”.
Speaking of his trip, he revealed that he “enjoyed the week”. He then added: “I have always loved the UK and I always will love the UK. It’s been good to reconnect with the causes I am passionate about.”
