Aldi makes big change to two supermarket aisles this week

Aldi is priming a double-aisle shake-up that will see dozens of new items land in supermarkets across the UK. Shoppers will notice the difference where the store runs cold and where the bottles line up. It comes just days after the German retailer regained its position as the UK’s cheapest supermarket, according to the latest monthly price analysis by Which?.

The consumer watchdog compared the cost of a standard basket of 75 branded and own-label groceries across eight major supermarkets and found Aldi outperformed Lidl, despite being one of just a few supermarkets that don’t offer a loyalty scheme to customers. But dedicated shoppers are being treated to a new range of ice cream and wine products.

In the freezers, Aldi is rolling out a wave of nostalgic ice creams that anchor the refresh.

Tubs inspired by Cherry Bakewell, Red Velvet, and Birthday Cake join the line.

For the first time, the Instagram-famous Angel Hair Chocolate arrives in a scoopable format for supermarket shoppers.

Also launching in stores on September 15, Aldi’s Specially Selected Ice Cream Tub range expands with new Lemon, pistachio, chocolate, and orange additions, plus new Biscoff-inspired Caramelised Biscuit Mochis.

From this week, every UK store carries a refreshed wine range built for autumn and winter.

The retailer was crowned Wine Supermarket of the Year at The People’s Choice Awards and secured over 178 medals in the past year.

Aldi’s Master of Wine, Sam Caporn, said: “As summer fades, it’s time to uncork the flavours of autumn.”

The refreshed range promises premium bottles without the premium price tag. It spans rich fireside reds, crisp whites for hearty dishes, and a sparkle or two for festive fizz.

Sam points to medium-bodied reds for cosy evenings, a tropical Stellenbosch Chardonnay for a Sunday roast, and Cigales Rosé, whose vibrant acidity makes it winter-ready.
