Cold weather maps show exact date 4C September chill hits UK | Weather | News

Cold weather is set to hit the UK next week that could see temperatures plunge to as low as 4C. Weather maps from WXCharts forecasts the September chill will arrive on September 13.

It will be coldest in central Scotland (Inverness, Aberdeen, Fort William, Wick), where temperatures could plummet to between 4C and 5C at 6am. It will also be chilly in south Wales (Cardiff), where it will be between 5C and 6C. In south Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dumfries), Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast), and north England (Carlisle, Newcastle), it will be between 7C and 9C. The Midlands (Birmingham), north Wales (Conwy), East Anglia (Norwich), the southwest (Plymouth), and the southeast (Canterbury) will be between 8C and 10C. The Met Office said of the period: “Much of this period will be unsettled, with low pressure likely to dominate the overall pattern.

“This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect much of the UK at times. Some heavy rain or showers are expected in places, most often in the west and north.

“Thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds, especially if any deep areas of low pressure develop and affect the UK.

“Later in the period, there may be some longer spells of drier weather that develop, especially towards the south, with more in the way of sunshine due to higher pressure here.

“Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly below overall, but may rise above at times in any drier, sunnier spells.”

Today: Apart from the odd mostly light shower, Friday promises to be a drier day than of late. Sunny spells, the best of these developing early on and then again later. Cloudier and breezier across the northwest, but feeling rather warm.

Tonight: Most areas dry under mostly clear skies. Isolated fog patched forming in parts of England and Wales with some patchy rain and drizzle across Scotland.

Saturday: Warm sunshine, albeit hazy at times. Cloudier across parts of the west, with showers possible in west Scotland. A freshening breeze, but feeing rather warm for many.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Turning more unsettled for Sunday with stronger winds, rain and possible thunderstorms. Rain giving way to sunshine and blustery showers into the new week, with a further risk of thunder.
