Zelensky describes being ‘forced’ after Trump call | World | News

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his gratitude to President Donald Trump for engaging in a “long and detailed” discussion with him and other European leaders on potential solutions to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“A long and very detailed conversation with President Trump,” Zelensky posted on Twitter on Thursday. “We spoke after today’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris. European leaders also participated on the call.

“First and foremost, we talked about how to push the situation toward real peace,” he said. “We discussed different options, and the most important is pressure, using strong measures, particularly economic ones, to force an end to the war. The news comes as Russia sends horror WW3 threat to UK – ‘drown Britain with nukes!’

“Until peace comes, Ukrainians must not be at the mercy of constant Russian attacks,” he concluded. “Russian missiles and drones must not take lives. Ukraine has proposed a format for protecting our skies for the U.S. to consider. I thank President Trump for supporting our people. We agreed on further contacts.”, reports the Express US.

Ukraine’s Zelensky hits back as Trump admits Russia war ‘more difficult’ than expected

President Zelensky’s explosive tweet emerged following the high-stakes coalition meeting, which kicked off around 8:00 a.m. EST on Thursday. The Ukrainian leader’s remarks come as President Donald Trump, who has been desperately working to broker a peace deal, made a stunning admission that perhaps the brutal conflict was “a little more difficult” to end than he initially believed.

In a candid interview with CBS, Trump said “Frankly, the Russia one, I thought, would have been on the easier side of the ones I’ve stopped,” he confessed. “But it seems to be something that’s a little bit more difficult than some of the others.”

Since storming back into the Oval Office in January, Trump has desperately attempted to position himself as a global peacemaker and repeatedly boasted that he has ended several conflicts. Despite these bold claims, the president has yet to reveal exactly which wars he participated in resolving.

Trump’s controversial approach, as he describes it, involves gathering world leaders in one room and aggressively pushing them toward a breakthrough agreement. The president also conceded that the explosive situation between Moscow and Kyiv required additional patience from all parties involved.

Zelensky has repeatedly expressed fierce determination and willingness to meet with Putin directly while simultaneously urging the U.S. to impose crushing measures to force Russia back to the negotiation table. On Wednesday, Putin allegedly told reporters that he has not ruled out a dramatic meeting with Zelensky and added that he would do it if it were conducted properly.

Putin’s possible peace offering

The Russian strongman made these provocative remarks during a tense press conference in Beijing on Wednesday, suggesting that if rational thinking prevailed, it would be possible to reach an “acceptable solution” for concluding the devastating conflict. Putin, whose military has recently made a chilling nuclear move, declared ominously, “It seems to me that there is a certain light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s see how the situation develops. If not, then we will have to achieve our goal by military means.”

Zelensky had not issued a public response to Putin’s inflammatory comments. He did indicate earlier that the overnight strikes were “demonstrative” in nature.

“Putin is demonstrating his impunity. Only due to the lack of sufficient pressure, primarily on the war economy, does Russia continue this aggression,” he wrote defiantly on Telegram.
