There’s one war film you can’t miss out on watching – it has become known as one of the most harrowing. This film is so heartbreaking, some say you’ll only be able to watch it once.

The Pianist (2002), follows the true story of Władysław Szpilman’s experiences in Warsaw during the Nazi occupation. When the Jews of the city find themselves forced into a ghetto, Szpilman finds work playing the piano in a café; and when his family is deported in 1942, he stays behind, works for a while as a laborer, and eventually goes into hiding in the ruins of the war-torn city. The film has taken the top spot on a list by Screen Rant of the most harrowing war movies.

One person who watched the film on Rotten Tomatoes said: “Just a masterpiece. This movie hits hard and stays with you for years.”

Another penned: “Shocking and masterful. The Pianist left me completely in shock. I had heard about it before, but I never thought it would be this good.

“It’s a raw, moving, and profoundly human film that portrays the horrors of war without resorting to sensationalism.

“Adrien Brody’s performance is flawless, conveying his character’s suffering, loneliness, and fragile hope with both subtlety and strength.”

The reviewer adds that Roman Polanski’s direction is masterful, paying attention to every detail to make the story feel as real as it is devastating.

The person adds: “This is one of those films you don’t just watch, but truly feel, and it stays with you long after it ends.”

Polanski’s film is a critically acclaimed movie which has captivated its audiences over the decades.

If you’re looking for a thought-provoking and harrowing war film, look no further than The Pianist.
