‘Prince Harry should stick to Invictus Games but needs to make one major change’ | Royal | News

Prince Harry has faced calls to quit the Invictus Games amid fears that he is too “decisive”. Held in different countries across the world, the Invictus Games is an international adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans.

The royal founded the Games back in 2014, and is without doubt his most successful project. After stepping back from his role as senior working royal, the 40-year-old appears to have focused much of his attention on the Games, and I can’t help but feel this is a project that he should continue to put at the forefront of his work commitments. Despite the calls for him to quit, the competing athletes – who are at the forefront of the initiative – have praised Harry for his commitment to the Games each and every year.

Previously speaking to PEOPLE, Christopher Bryd – who survived an IED explosion during a deployment in Afghanistan – referred to Harry as a “really kind guy”.

Also praising Harry, other athletes have been known to refer to him as “just one of my brothers, brothers in arms”. The former CEO of the Games, Dominic Reed, also previously noted that Harry has “always been there” and that his commitment is “unparalleled”.

The opinions of those who have personally benefitted from the work of the Games and Harry, I think, should outshine the calls of those who are not connected to the Invictus.

Although I believe Harry should continue to stick by what many believe is his “best work”, I do wonder if doing one major change would help the Games going forward.

Meghan Markle, who made her first official appearance as Harry’s girlfriend at the Games in 2017 held in Canada, has undoubitably been a major support to her husband when it comes to this project and more. However, I feel that she should “step down” from the Games from now on.

Having many new ventures of her own, Meghan should allow Harry to have his moment from now on and support him and the Games from the sidelines rather than attending them and inadvertidly outshine the prince and the project.

Her rekindled love of Instagram could pave the way to support Harry – and, in my opinion, it could subtly increase the exposure of such a cause, without having to take away “H’s” light.
