‘Neighbour crossed the line with car and now I’ve been told stay away’

A livid resident has shared how their neighbour “crossed the line” with their motor, leaving them utterly powerless to take action.

The anonymous member of the public explained they had shifted their neighbour’s bins to gain access to their driveway.

Despite this perfectly reasonable act, the neighbour took umbrage and went to extraordinary lengths.

Their behaviour prompted members of the r/NeighboursfromHell Reddit page to warn the resident against any further interaction with them.

Some urged they “stay away” for as long as possible, while others recommended being more forthright with their neighbour as the issue has persisted for “the last few months”.

It appears the resident finds themselves caught between a rock and a hard place after responding to the neighbour’s persistent habit, and they remain uncertain about their next move.

A post to the subreddit reads: “Neighbour put trash on my car. For the last few months one neighbour has left their cans in the way of the driveway.

“Not a huge deal, I’ve just moved them a few feet back so the driveway can be used. I’ve done this a couple times and thought nothing of it, until this morning.

“I walked out the door today to find multiple trash bags laid out on the hood and windshield of my car, with that certain neighbours trash can leaning against the bumper of my car.

“Obviously I was p****ed, so I threw the bags on their porch and knocked (loudly) on their door. This neighbour came out and claimed she was totally in the right and I was in the wrong for moving her cans.

“The entire time she was incredibly smug and thought she was in the right. We got in a screaming match that ended in me leaving, calls to the landlord, and her threatening me and my fiancé with calling the cops.”

After “getting a dash cam” and contacting their landlord, the resident is at a complete loss about what to do next following their neighbour’s behaviour which has made living in the duplex utterly unbearable.

Members of the public have urged them to steer clear of their neighbour, while also recommending involving the police as soon as possible as the smartest course of action.

One person advised: “If she’s already escalating to threats and putting garbage on your car, documenting everything and involving the landlord/police early is the safest move. You shouldn’t have to put up with harassment just for wanting access to your own driveway.”

Another commented: “Stay away from all nutty people. I doubt if the cops will do anything but speak to your community police for advice. Good luck.”

A third added: “She sounds fruit loops. Going forward just gently hit her cans (not to damage your car) so you can park. What a scumbag she is.”
