This  charming village has remained untouched by time as visitors claim it feels “like stepping into another era”. Haworth sits tucked away in the stunning Yorkshire countryside, famously known as the former residence of the celebrated Brontë sisters, with the nearby moor inspiring Wuthering Heights.

The siblings’ old family residence has been transformed into a museum, drawing literary enthusiasts from far and wide. The village has certainly earned its reputation, with independent bookshop Wave of Nostalgia securing the title of northern England’s finest by The Bookseller. Boasting its historic cobblestone Main Street, legendary parsonage and sweeping moorlands, this Airedale settlement retains numerous period features that remain completely preserved.

Positioned adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales, it enjoys spectacular rural landscapes and undulating hillsides.

Visitors to the museum can marvel at a precious miniature manuscript penned by Charlotte Brontë, which dates to December 1829.

Leeds lies within easy reach by car, presenting a stark contrast to the tranquil village whilst delivering abundant retail and dining opportunities.

The ancient city of York also sits nearby, displaying its renowned cobbled thoroughfares and quintessential English design.

Despite Haworth’s compact size, the settlement boasts a legendary Main Street lined with numerous independent retailers and tea rooms.

Mrs Beighton’s Sweet Shop reportedly stands as an essential destination, stocking more than 500 classic British confections to sample.

Haworth Wholefoods provides an exceptional grocery experience for weekly shopping, featuring regional produce and organic fare. H and L Fashions, a quaint boutique specialising in French and Italian vintage designs for both men and women, adds to the charm of the place.

The Cabinet of Curiosities, reminiscent of a museum, transports shoppers back in time with its rich mahogany interiors and glass globes.

For those wishing to delve deeper into Yorkshire’s beauty, Haworth offers self-catering accommodation as well as cosy B&Bs.
