A new Nintendo Direct is tipped to take place in the coming days, and just in time for a major Nintendo anniversary.
According to a reputable insider, the next major Nintendo Direct event is expected to take place on the week beginning September 8. That’s next week!
Specifically, it’s believed the Nintendo Direct conference will take place on either September 11 or September 12. Interestingly, this is right before the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game launching for the NES.
The original Super Mario Bros. made its debut for the NES on September 13, 1985 in Japan. Unbelievably that’s 40 years ago.
If Nintendo does hold a Direct conference next week, then fans will be crossing their fingers for a major Mario announcement. Whether that’s a sequel to Super Mario Odyssey, or a brand new Mario game, fans are desperate for something.
Reports of a September Nintendo Direct conference were spearheaded by reliable leaker Nate the Hate.
“Yes, there is a Nintendo Direct in September,” reads a NatetheHate2 post on X. “When: The second week of the month, in the latter half on or around Sept 11 or 12th.”
In terms of what fans can expect, outside of a Mario announcement, it’s almost certain we’ll get an update on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which is still pencilled in for a 2025 release.
Metroid Prime 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will feature various upgrades, including faster frame-rates, enhanced visuals and support for the console’s mouse controller.
The mouse controller works really well for Metroid Prime 4, making it much easier and faster to pick out individual targets.
Players will explore Planet Viewros, where they will battle a rival Bounty Hunter named Sylux.
Samus will be able to draw on a new selection of psychic abilities when battling the new rival and enemies.
The game was recently given an age rating by the US certification board, which suggests a release is imminent.
