Argos is dishing out £99 TVs with one important upgrade that matches Sky

It’s no secret that more and more homes are switching over to streaming instead of traditional telly. Sky has already confirmed that the majority of its new sales are for products such as Sky Glass, which use the web rather than a dish to beam content to the big screen. Now there’s another relatively new way to view shows, sports and movies, and it’s now even cheaper to make the switch.

Freely is very similar to Sky, with it streaming everything via a home’s broadband connection rather than needing an aerial drilled into the chimney. It even includes features such as content recommendations, the ability to pause live TV and a backwards telly guide that lets you go back in time and view things that have already aired.

At launch, Freely was only available on a limited number of new televisions, but that’s slowly been changing. In fact, Freely now comes pre-installed on screens made by Panasonic, Hisense, Sharp and Toshiba.

Now, there is even more choice and switching over is incredibly cheap. Argos has just released a new range of Freely-powered tellies from Bush and they start from just £99.

Yes, you really can take delivery of an television for under £100.

For that low price you get a gogglebox that features a 24-inch HD display, full access to Freely and other streaming apps such as Netflix, ITVX and Disney+ along with other features such as HDR10 technology for an improved image.

There are also full parental controls, a quad core processor and 2 HDMI sockets for plugging in external devices.

If 24-inches sounds a bit small there is also a bigger 32-inch Bush screen which is £119 or a 40-inch panel for £159.

Of course, Freely won’t let you access premium content such as Sky Sports or Sky Cinema. For that you will need to opt for Sky Glass or the cheaper Sky Glass TV.

A Sky Glass package with full access to premium shows, sports and movies will set you back around £42 per month.
