A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a baby was found with injuries in a pool of water. Lincolnshire Police confirmed that they had discovered the 15-month-old baby in the water at Boultham Park in Lincoln city centre just before 9.30pm on Thursday.

The baby was described as having “minor injuries” and was taken to hospital for treatment. A 17-year-old boy was later arrested in connection with the incident. A statement read: “We are appealing for eyewitnesses and information after a young child was discovered in the water at Boutham Park in Lincoln.”

Police are appealing for witnesses with information to come forward, regardless of how small they believe their information is.

The spokesperson added: “Officers were called to the area at around 9.20pm on Thursday, 21 August where the child was discovered.

“The child sustained minor injuries and has been taken to hospital for checks.

“A teenager – a male – has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“A scene guard is in place in the area and investigations are taking place to determine the sequence of events that led to the child ending up in the water.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the park at the time, heard anything suspicious or saw or heard a baby. Any detail, no matter how small, could prove crucial.

“If you think you can help, call 101 quoting incident number 494 of 21/08/25.”
