Labour is facing fresh pressure over the migrant crisis after new figures were released this morning.
The Home Office shared quarterly asylum, visa and resettlement statistics covering April to June.
The data shows a total of 32,059 asylum seekers were being housed temporarily in hotels at the end of Labour’s first year in Government, up 8% on the same point 12 months ago.
It comes as the Government is facing questions over the future of migrant hotels after a bombshell legal victory by a local authority.
Epping Council secured a temporary injunction from the High Court earlier this week blocking the use of the Essex town’s Bell Hotel as accommodation for asylum seekers on planning grounds.
The decision has prompted councils controlled by Labour, the Conservatives and Reform UK to investigate whether they could pursue a similar course of action.
