Local cops in San Bernardino have reported a potential sighting of the seven-month-old boy who vanished in Southern California approximately one week ago.
Rebecca Haro, mother of missing Emmanuel Haro, informed authorities last week that she was attacked and rendered unconscious on August 14 whilst changing her baby son’s nappy outside her vehicle near a Big 5 store in Yucaipa. She claimed that upon regaining consciousness, he had disappeared.
However, after police investigators questioned her regarding discrepancies in her original statement, she declined to proceed with the interview. The sheriff’s department stated in a news release that it was “unable to rule out foul play.”
Officers on Tuesday confiscated a vehicle belonging to Emmanuel Haro’s father, Jake Haro, confirming it was “collected for evidence processing,” a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department informed USA Today.
“Investigators have not ruled out anyone’s involvement and are following up on all leads and tips,” Rodriguez reportedly stated.
The sheriff’s department announced on Wednesday that a possible sighting of Emmanuel Haro was reported in Kern County, situated approximately three hours northwest of San Bernardino County. The department could not provide further details about the alleged sighting.
Rebecca and Jake Haro have faced intense scrutiny since their son disappeared last week, reports MirrorUS. “Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,” the sheriff’s department revealed in a news release on Saturday.
“At this point in the investigation, investigators are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of Emmanuel.”
Rebecca Haro disclosed to KTLA last week that she heard someone speaking Spanish before she was knocked unconscious in the store’s car park.
“I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, ‘Hola,’ and I don’t remember anything since,” she recounted. “I woke up here on the floor and I didn’t see Emmanuel.”
The Sheriff’s department confirmed that despite an extensive search involving deputies and police dogs, they were unable to locate the boy.
