Tottenham ‘offer key player’ in blockbuster Eberechi Eze swap as second deal eyed | Football | Sport

Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a frantic end to the summer transfer window, as Thomas Frank looks to finalise his squad plans for the 2025/26 season. The ex-Brentford boss got off to the perfect start in his first match as Spurs boss last weekend, but Frank is keen to add forward players to his squad before the September 1 deadline.

One of the names mentioned has been Eberechi Eze, who emerged as a target for both north London clubs earlier this summer. Arsenal had looked like the most likely suitor at one point, but talk about a switch to the Emirates Stadium has died down in recent weeks, with Spurs now poised to secure his signature.

However, it’s reported by Sky Sports that Spurs could look to include Richarlison as part of a deal for Eze, with the Brazil international joining Crystal Palace instead. While an eyebrow-raiser at first, Palace will likely have European football to offer Richarlison, as well as regular playing time – something which won’t be guaranteed under Frank at Spurs.

Given it’s a World Cup season, that could prove crucial to Richarlison, as he looks to book a spot in the Brazil squad for next summer’s tournament. But it’s also suggested that Spurs have an ulterior motive in using Richarlison as part of the Eze deal – one which could leave those in Newcastle feeling a tad nervous.

That’s because Spurs could free up space in their squad by allowing Richarlison to join Palace, and in turn plotting their own move for the highly sought-after Yoane Wissa. The attacker excelled under former boss Frank during the pair’s time together at Brentford, with a reunion being mooted this summer.

Wissa has been subject to several bids from Newcastle, with the 28-year-old believed to be keen on a move to St. James’ Park. It isn’t yet known whether Wissa is open to a Tottenham transfer, but much like the Magpies, Spurs also have Champions League football on offer this season.

It comes at an unusual time, given Richarlison was crucial for Spurs in their victory over Burnley on opening day, netting twice against the newly-promoted outfit. Speaking after the match, Frank told the club website: “First and foremost his performance today, ‘wow’. His performance on Wednesday, ‘wow’. His work ethic, the way he leads the team, the way he presses, his hold up play, the way he competes is fantastic.

“On top of that, strikers need goals. Two great goals. The first one, the ‘easier’ one, it’s not easy, it’s a great finish. The second one, exceptional. I’ve just been told by my analysis team that it was 17 passes, everyone in the team touched the ball, including Vic and finished with two top actions – Mo Kudus and an unbelievable finish. Maybe this is Goal of the Season already!”
