Budget retailer Poundland has announced it will stop taking online orders as part of a new shake-up. The Poundland Perks rewards app will also be retired next month, and the brand will undergo changes to ensure the best value for money in-store, it said in a statement on its website.
Poundland said the moves come as it is “currently working very hard behind the scenes to simplify and refocus our stores”. The popular discount brand said: “And that means very soon there’ll be even more ranges at £1 and new items to choose from each week, but unfortunately, we will no longer be providing an online delivery service from September 16, 2025.” It comes as several Poundland stores have closed in recent months as part of a major restructuring plan.
Poundland has around 800 branches across the UK but intends to slim this down to between 650 and 700 stores.
Sixty-eight stores are scheduled to close by mid-October, and further closures are expected when existing leases end and are not renewed.
Poundland thanked its customers for their support and acknowledged that its change to online orders will be “disappointing” for some shoppers.
The Poundland.co.uk website will remain open for customers to browse and find store locations and opening times.
Poundland also confirmed its Perks app will close on September 16, but reward vouchers will still be valid in-store until January 15 next year.
“As we work hard to simplify and refocus Poundland, delivering the absolute best value to every one of our customers in our stores, we’ll be retiring our Perks app.”
The retailer added: “This means that we’ll focus on having the best prices, for everyone, in all of our stores – no need for an account, data, membership or vouchers. Just amazing value every day.”
