The Beatles may have broken up 55 years ago, but Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Ringo Starr and the estates of John Lennon and George Harrison continue to keep the legacy alive.
Aside from Sir Sam Mendes’ four back-to-back movie biopics, all sorts of other projects are in the works, and Macca and Ringo have now teased the latest.
The two surviving Beatles posted on Instagram “1, 2, 3, 4” made up of familiar Beatles images, and fans are pretty sure they’ve deciphered the cryptic tease.
One of the most liked comments is “Anthology 4 confirmed”, which could suggest a return of the Beatles Anthology following the first three that arrived in 1995 and 1996.
These featured a collection of the Fab Four’s albums with live and alternate takes, plus previously unreleased material, interviews and pictures.
Some fans speculate a new boxset could feature Free as a Bird, Real Love and Now and Then, the three Beatles songs with the late John’s vocals worked on by Paul, George and Ringo in the early 1990s. Another theory is that the new post could be teasing a re-release of the Anthology documentary series on Disney+, following Let It Be, Beatles ’64 and The Beatles: Get Back. Whatever the case, hopefully fans won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
