‘My wedding ring fell off at a theme park – what happened next baffled me’

Most married couples would agree that mislaying your wedding ring is an enormous concern, and some even regard it as a sign of bad luck. Whether it is or isn’t, losing one of your most treasured possessions can certainly cause a dreadful feeling in your stomach like no other.

It can sometimes happen in the most unexpected of locations – and you might think you have absolutely no hope when it comes to finding it. When Shannon, who goes by @PrincessShannon on TikTok, lost her wedding ring whilst on a ride at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida in the US, she thought there was no chance of getting it back.

Shannon and her husband Nick had been enjoying Camp Jurassic at Universal, a “multi-level prehistoric playground” featuring “dark caves and amber mines” when their “worst nightmare” happened. Nick appeared to be filming Shannon crossing a cave with running water below, on a bridge made of rope, when her hand struck the side of the bridge – causing her wedding ring to “fly” off.

Looking visibly shocked, Shannon said it “just fell off”.

Meanwhile, Nick confessed he “didn’t know what to tell her”, but decided to ask someone if they could help. After speaking with staff at the theme park, they were told they would have to wait until the end of the evening, when the water jets could be turned off.

In a TikTok video, a hopeful Shannon said: “Hopefully it just went to the ground and then they’ll find it.”

They later discovered a staff member who offered to assist. Shannon explained how Universal staff went beneath the attraction armed with “torches and grabbers” to try and retrieve the ring.

To her amazement, they initially found a different ring but persisted with their hunt.

Then, defying all expectations, something utterly remarkable occurred – they successfully recovered Shannon’s wedding ring from the cave network.

It’s fair to say both were relieved and completely flabbergasted.

Nick can be heard in the footage declaring: “That’s the one. Oh my gosh. Thank you guys. I don’t know how to express our thank you. I genuinely thought we lost it. This was beyond what we expected you guys to do, so thank you guys. I had a pit in my stomach this whole time. I actually wanted to cry.”

Later, Shannon disclosed that Nick felt accountable for the mishap as he was meant to be the one traversing the bridge.

In the comments area, Shannon explained: “I had asked him to go on the bridge for a video but it didn’t seem like he wanted to, so I decided to go instead- so he blames himself for me being in the situation! Not his fault at all though.”

In her update, Shannon recounted the day’s happenings: “My worst nightmare… Losing my wedding ring in the depths of Camp Jurassic at Universal. I usually don’t wear my ring on long park days because of this, but the one day that I was… welp… Thank you SO MUCH to all the team members!!!”. People were left gobsmacked by the Universal employees’ efforts, lauding their outstanding service in the comments section.

“The way I gasped with that fully clothed employee in the water. What a good human.”

“I was not expecting them to jump in there. That’s customer service right there,” another added.

“Shoutout to the employee going ABOVE and BEYOND! ! !” another exclaimed.

Universal Studios Orlando has been approached for a comment.
