‘I bought an EV but sold it 3 months later for petrol Range Rover’

One British driver has revealed why she chose to sell her electric car after just three months and go back to driving a petrol Range Rover. Electric vehicles (EVs) have grown in popularity over the past few years, down to a growing number of people interested in sustainability as well as government schemes to encourage more EV ownership. However, not everyone has been impressed with their electric vehicles and some prefer to stick to their petrol or diesel-powered cars.

One driver took to TikTok to reveal why she made the switch back to petrol after driving an electric car for just three months. She said she was initially enthusiastic about owning an electric car, but it did not work out the way she had hoped. The owner, who goes by the handle @moresabrinaescapes on TikTok, posted a video explaining the scenario she found herself in, forcing her to go back to petrol over electric. “It’s time to say goodbye to my electric car after three months,” she told viewers.

“It was a good run, I did actually quite enjoy it, but for unforeseen circumstances I’m getting rid of it. It was a really nice car, sunroof, and it was really comfortable.”

Although the car proved to be a pleasure to drive, there was an issue lying under the surface that made things to difficult for her.

She revealed: “So why did I get rid of the electric car? Well, the main reason was because I was having problems getting the charging port installed at home.”

The TikTok user explained the cost of charging her car had become too high, a situation she described as “painful”. She told viewers: “It was costing about £25 or £30 to get a full charge on the car, and I was only getting about 100 miles, which was pretty painful to be honest.”

Ultimately, running a petrol car proved easier for her. She revealed: “I got rid of my electric car, come and see what new car I bought.

“I know I’m going to get a lot of hate for this, but this has been my dream car since I was little. And I’m so pleased — I can’t believe I’ve done it in my twenties. It is a Range Rover Evoque.”

However, she stressed that she did enjoy the experience of driving her electric car. However, the infrastructure was not in place for her to charge it with ease.
