Dunelm has reduced a garden parasol that customers are calling “beautiful”. Though it was originally £59, the price drop means it is now just under £30. The Shanghai Parasol, as it is dubbed, is available in a soft sage green, and shoppers say they love its vintage look.
The parasol has a large canopy made from 100% polyester that is opened and closed by a crank mechanism. It also has a handy tilt feature to cast shade precisely where needed. One delighted customer wrote: “It looks so pretty and adds an elegance to the garden. It’s sturdy and robust and didn’t fall over in the high winds we had the other day.”
However, some customers were disappointed to find out that the parasol does not come with a base. Instead, you will need to purchase one separately. One disgruntled customer left a review, saying: “I’ve had to purchase a couple of bases to find the sturdiest. With it being 2m tall, the weight, width, and hole the parasol sits in need to be right so it doesn’t topple over.”
Another customer added, ” I used this umbrella for half an hour. It had no UV protection, and I got sunburnt through it. Very poor quality.” While the Skin Cancer Foundation says that polyester is considered good for blocking out the sun’s rays, it advises people to use clothing, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and shade together for all-around sun safety.
Despite a few complaints, the parasol has earned a 4.5-star rating based on customer reviews on Dunelm’s website.
Another shopper said: “Got this parasol in the sale. Absolutely beautiful! Very well made. Superb quality. Absolute bargain!”
Should this particular parasol not be to your taste, there are plenty of other options that have also been reduced in the Dunelm sale, including the Recycled Polyester Cream Carousel Parasol, which is now £50 down from £100. Made from recycled polyester, it features a pretty tasselled edge and a crank mechanism, but is slightly bigger with a 2.7m canopy.
Alternatively, the Argos Home Tilting Garden Parasol, £25, in this season’s must-have colour combo, yellow with white stripes, is a great choice, reports Birmingham Live.
