A yellow heat health alert has been issued across parts of the country from Monday as the nation has been told to brace for a potential heatwave that could see the mercury soar past 30C.
The warning has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) from 12pm on Monday August 11 until 6pm on Wednesday August 13.
The heat health alert covers Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, East of England, London, the South East and South West.
The UKHSA said the alert means significant impacts are possible across health and social care services due to the high temperatures.
The Met Office’s long range forecast for next week reads: “Much of England could see high temperatures for at least a couple of days and there is a possibility that the heat could last further into the week, especially in the south, where there is also the possibility of some thunderstorms.”
