‘Breathtaking’ beach with golden sands, stunning rock pools | Travel News | Travel

With deliciously warm temperatures and balmy summer days upon us millions of sun-seekers are heading down to the coast to bask in the sunshine.

If you’re pondering which beach to visit look no further, because we’ve got the answer for you.

Nestled on the Northumberland coast near Berwick-upon-Tweed, Cheswick Sands near Cheswick offers visitors a vast and tranquil coastal stretch.

The gorgeous beach presents breathtaking views of the English coast and stretches right up to the Scottish border. Its picturesque and secluded coastline promises a serene beach experience.

With miles of golden sands and stunning rock pools, Cheswick Sands has been deemed ‘relatively quiet’ by visitors, with one TripAdvisor review of the beach saying: “To be fair we spent much longer on Cheswick beach just to the south — that involves large sand dunes that kids love playing on and white sands (at high tide, with the darker sands exposed at low tide).

“There are views one way to Berwick and beyond and the other to Lindisfarne Castle. It’s relatively quiet even on a nice day in the summer holidays.”

Arguably one of the largest beaches on the Northumberland coast, Cheswick Sands boasts expansive stretches of gently rolling dunes and flat white-ish golden sand embellished with black basalt rock-pools.

Offering up panoramic views of Berwick-upon-Tweed and beyond this relatively quiet beach (a delight to any beach lover’s ears) has a clear sight of Holy Island and the historic Lindisfarne Castle to the south. Pet owners too will find themselves appreciating this beach, as it provides ample area for picturesque walks along its unspoilt coastline.

Ideal for activities such as surfing, kite surfing, and wind surfing, Cheswick Sands provides just the spot for leisurely strolls and relaxed exploration. Those seeking tranquility will find themselves happy on its sand, with a handsomely rugged coastline to keep you company.

Seamlessly joining Cocklawburn beach to the north, Cheswick Sands languidly stretches into the popular Northumberland beach. To the south, it becomes one with Goswick beach and this results in one massive expanse of stunning vistas and a magnificent coastline spanning miles.

Towards the back of the beach, there are sand dunes of near white, powdery sand which offer visitors some shelter from the mighty wind of the Northumberland coast.

Cheswick Sands has a small, free car park on the road leading to/from Cheswick village where visitors can leave their vehicles at no cost, however fair warning, it does tend to fill up quickly on a balmy day. Additionally, some road side parking is also available.

The beach has no lifeguards or other safety personnel manning it, so visitors are advised to exercise caution while swimming or surfing in the waves. There are also no amenities at Cheswick Sands — including toilets or shops — so it would be wise to stock up on necessary refreshments and equipment before visiting.
