LBC host Henry Riley entered a fiery encounter with a caller who was not convinced that Government spending on migrant hotels has gone down since Labour took over. Mark fumed at Keir Starmer and argued that “hotel use has not gone down.” He claimed that the Government was shutting down one hotel and moving all the migrants into a different one. Henry Riley argued on the call: “Hotel use has gone down. I’m afraid those are the facts.” Mark didn’t accept his answer and said: “No, you’re wrong. I don’t accept that. Truthfully, I think you’re wrong.” Henry interrupted: “Respectfully, Mark, you can’t, because that’s a fact. The hotel use has gone down under the Labour Government.”
Mark then slammed: “No. They’re buying these hotels to put people in to. You’re trying to tell me that there’s no more people coming over the borders then?” Henry protested: “I’m not saying that at all!” Mark then said: “If you don’t see what’s happening – you’ve got your eyes shut.”
Many LBC followers reacted to the call in the comments section. On one hand, many took the side of Mark. One person said, “What @HenryRiley1 has failed to comprehend is that Home Office figures now on longer include hotels that are partially open to the public, therefore giving a misleading figure.”
Another similarly agreed and said: “Respectfully, moving them into private accommodation instead of hotels to hide the issue and say they’ve reduced hotel use is disingenuous.”
A third also commented: “So if hotels have ‘gone down, ‘ where have they gone? They certainly haven’t been sent home! I’m guessing they’ll be placed in the “1.5 million” new homes being built.”
In similar news, GB News presenter Ben Leo was told to “f*** off” in a frosty encounter when he attended the Epping Stand Up to Racism migrant hotel protest.
The journalist showed footage from inside the pen as he attempted to interview protestors, with several people telling him that he was “not welcome here” and was encouraged to leave.
During one encounter, a demonstrator yelled at Ben, “Get the f*** out of here” while another protestor told him, “Off you go. You’re not welcome here.” As Ben tried to get comments from protestors, he said, “That’s not very nice. You don’t need to be so angry.” Another person simply told him to “f*** off.”
