Apple’s bestselling and excellent AirPods Pro 2 are currently on sale at several UK retailers for a price that’s nearly as low as they were when they were at their cheapest ever price last November.
Right now, you can pick up AirPods Pro 2 for £189, a £40 saving on their £229 RRP. At the time of writing, this price is available from Amazon, Currys, John Lewis and Argos.
The Black Friday sales of 2024 saw these wildly popular AirPods go for £179 on Amazon, as shown on the Amazon price tracker website Camelcamelcamel. Other than then, this week’s discount is the best price we’ve seen for Apple’s top of the line earbuds.
AirPods Pro 2 were first released in September 2022 as an upgrade to the original version from 2019. Then a year later, they were updated again to have USB-C rather than Lighting ports on the charging case, but otherwise are the same earbuds.
I’ve used the AirPods Pro 2 extensively and regard them as one of the best choices for anyone who wants reliable, good sounding noise cancelling earbuds – though you really have to have an iPhone to get the best out of them. While they use Bluetooth and will connect with an Android phone, you need an Apple device for all the features they offer to work correctly.
This includes quick pairing with your iPhone, iPad, Mac or even Apple TV box, with smart switching happening between different devices depending on which one you’re using.
The noise cancellation is excellent, perhaps only beaten by Bose, and the transparency mode, which lets noise in even with the buds in your ears, is second to none. Call quality is solid but not class-leading, and the audio is a cut above.
If you want the very best sound quality then I think the Sony WF-1000XM5 or the Sennheiser Momentun True Wireless 4 are better picks, but in terms of the overall fit, sound and noise cancellation, the AirPods Pro 2 are class-leading.
It’s unclear how long this £189 price will go on for, but the pricing history tells us this is as good a time as any to pick up the AirPods Pro 2, unless you want to wait until Black Friday 2025 this coming November.
