Princess Margaret’s furious five-word outburst after Sarah Ferguson ‘shamed’ Firm | Royal | News

Princess Margaret was often known for her sharp wit and candid observations about the Royal Family, and now an upcoming royal book with explosive claims about the Firm has made allegations on Margaret’s shocking views about Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and her “extravagant lifestyle”.

The book, titled ‘Entitled: The rise and fall of the House of York’ by author Andrew Lownie, claims Princess Margaret disapproved of Sarah Ferguson’s behaviour. The author claims the Duchess of York “partied, she took lovers, she was indiscreet”, causing Princess Margaret to make a five-word outburst: “How dare you discredit us?” According to an extract, serialised in the Daily Mail, the Princess reportedly told Fergie: “You have done more to bring shame on the Royal Family than could ever have been imagined. Clearly you have never considered the damage you are doing us all. How dare you discredit us?”

On Amazon, a description of the upcoming royal book reads: “Chronicling their lives in parallel, the picture that emerges is of a spoilt prince unable to connect and a duchess pushed by her insecurities into a desperate need to maintain the attention her ‘royal’ status brought.”

Sarah Ferguson, commonly known as ‘Fergie’, is a former member of the Royal Family. She married the second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on July 23, 1986, at Westminster Abbey in London.

Sarah was warmly welcomed by the public for her approachable personality and sense of humour, and the pair eventually gave birth to two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Their marriage faced challenges due to Andrew’s naval duties, which kept him away for long periods. The couple announced their separation in 1992 and finalised their divorce in 1996.

The book also claims the ex-wife of the Duke of York confided to broadcaster, Piers Morgan, that she found the pro golfer Tiger Woods “gorgeous” and flew 1,500 miles to meet him.

In extracts serialised in the Daily Mail, author Andrew Lownie claims that the Duchess had a list of men whom she was keen to be romantically involved with after separating from Prince Andrew, including the late son of John F Kennedy, the former US president.

The book contains further claims, as elsewhere in the publication, the author claims the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and the Duke of York got into a heated argument in which “punches were thrown” in 2013, an allegation that Prince Harry has denied.

King Charles’ younger brother took a step back from working royal duties in November 2019 following a scrutinised interview with BBC’s Newsnight about his alleged ties to the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein – an area which is also explored in the upcoming book.

The title is due to be released on August 14, 2025.
