Europe’s most walkable city perfect to visit in autumn when it’s 26C | Europe | Travel

Walking remains the most dependable form of transportation, particularly in urban areas where key attractions cluster together. Europe boasts numerous destinations perfect for exploring by foot, yet according to specialists at Preply, one surpasses renowned cities like Edinburgh, London and Barcelona for pedestrian-friendliness.

Their study identified urban gems where all principal landmarks lie within easy walking distance. Whilst a particularly charming British city secured top honours domestically, it was Seville, Spain’s captivating southern treasure, that seized the continent’s most pedestrian-friendly title. A simple 20-minute wander through sun-drenched Seville links explorers to the city’s premier attractions, making it perfect for visitors keen to avoid driving.

Beyond its status as tapas’ birthplace, Seville overflows with welcoming celebrations and essential wonders – including the legendary Plaza de Espana. This Andalusian gem, featuring a boating-ready moat, impressed TripAdvisor reviewers.

One traveller who explored Seville earlier this month commented: “Breathtaking place to visit. Very stunning architecture. It was my favourite place I visited in Seville. Well worth a visit.”

Another added: “One of the most spectacular plazas in Spain, and definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Seville. The park surrounding it is also nice.”

Visitors should also incorporate the Real Alcazar and Seville Cathedral into their plans, whilst Parque de Maria Luisa provides a peaceful escape from urban hustle.

These attractions work brilliantly in an autumn schedule as the season represents the ideal time to experience Seville.

Summer heat frequently soars to a blistering 40C, though temperatures become far more pleasant at approximately 26C during October.

Skyscanner currently features return flights to this Spanish treasure in October for merely £60 from London airports to Seville (SVQ).

As a remarkably pedestrian-friendly destination, the five premier attractions can be accessed within one mile of each other using the most direct path, according to Preply’s specialists.

For occasions requiring swifter travel, Seville boasts superb public transport connections throughout the city and neighbouring areas.

The Andalusian location houses two principal bus stations: Prado de San Sebastian, which serves cities and towns across Andalucia, and Plaza de Armas, which connects to various Spanish regions and Portugal.

Cycling proves both secure and practical for discovering the city, with numerous hire outlets scattered throughout the centre. Alternatively, the Metro-Centro tram network, which starts at Plaza Nueva in the city centre and ends at San Bernado train station, offers connections to the metro.

Tickets can be purchased at each tram station.
