Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Salah wrote: “Your energy, drive, and passion on the pitch have left a mark that won’t be forgotten. We were truly lucky to have you at Liverpool, and it’s been an honour to share part of your journey and success story.
“As a teammate, you were more than reliable — you were inspiring. As a friend, even more so.
“We all saw the strength it took to keep going through the tough times off the pitch. What you went through would’ve broken most, but you came back strong and gave everything for the club. That kind of resilience sets an example for others and earns nothing but respect.
“Wishing you all the best for what’s next, Lucho. Siga haciendo orgullosa a su gente.”

It has been a summer window of change for Arne Slot’s side, with the reigning league champions spending nearly £300m on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.
Fans feared that they would have to shell out for Salah’s replacement also, with speculation surrounding his contract situation and huge financial offers from Saudi Arabia.
But Liverpool’s talisman, in addition to Virgil van Dijk, signed contract extensions to commit their futures to the club. Instead, Diaz is the one to leave, but the Reds have recouped a significant fee.
Diaz himself made a tear-jerking social media post after his switch to European rivals Bayern was confirmed, paying tribute to the late Diogo Jota.
“Three years and a half that I’ll treasure forever,” Diaz wrote. “I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together.
“I have met incredible people, fabulous colleagues, coaches who helped me a lot, and extraordinary fans. Liverpool is, indeed, a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart. The cycle ends here, and it is so gratifying to look back and realise how happy we were.
“Not only because of the trophies we won, but for the union and friendship that made it all possible. There were ups and downs, as there always are, but there was always truth. As it should be in a family. It’s good to be leaving with the feeling of a duty fulfilled, and, most of all, to be leaving a champion. It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way.
“As I said, and I repeat, I carry everyone with me in my heart, but one of them in particular: Diogo. I will never forget him. We will never forget him. Thank you for everything YNWA.”
