Meghan Markle’s former best friend Jessica Mulroney has split from her husband of 16 years, it has been revealed. According to sources in Canada, the stylist and her husband Ben Mulroney split “some time ago” – with Jessica reportedly telling friends at a wedding in Toronto last month.
The wedding, in which Ben’s absence sparked questions of a split, was also understood to have been attended by a host of A-listers, including Drake and LeBron James. Speaking to Page Six, a Canadian source said, “They’re split. Jessica seemed sad but also relieved to have some clarity.”
Jessica and Ben share three children, including twins Brian and John, 14, and their 12-year-old daughter Ivy.
Jessica’s children were all part of Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018 – with her daughter acting as bridesmaid and her sons as page boys.
During their friendship, Jessica was one of the only people who knew about her relationship with Harry in the early days – and also acted as Meghan’s stylist during her engagement photoshoot in November 2017.
However, Meghan, 43, reportedly dumped Jessica as a friend after being caught up in a racism scandal that left the 45-year-old “toxic” on the Toronto social scene. This came after Canadian influencer Sasha Exeter accused Jessica of racism back in 2020.
Jessica appeared to refer to Meghan during a public apology, telling Exeter, “As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre.
“It was deeply educational. I learned a lot from that. I promise to continue to learn and listen on how I can use my privilege to elevate and support black voices.”
Meghan would previously regularly mention her ex-BFF on her now-defunct blog, The Tig.
Jessica has not mentioned Meghan recently, with her latest post about her being the one in 2021.
