Cadbury fans are no stranger to heartbreak if they fall in love with a limited-time flavour and find it gone one day. But, some shoppers are keen to make their own versions at home to satisfy those cravings.
TikTok user Paige (@paigebakedthat) said: “You’re wrong if you don’t agree that Ritz and Dairy Milk brought out the best chocolate bar, but I’ve had enough of waiting, so I had to make my own. Believe it or not, this chocolate bar got discontinued in 2018, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about it.”
The at-home baker and self-confessed ‘foodie’ added that she has tried similar treats but admitted that “nothing compares.” But, with both of the core ingredients available in shops, nothing was stopping this “perfect combination” snack from being created in her own kitchen.
After lining a muffin tray with paper liners, Paige layered her ‘sandwich’ with a Ritz cracker topped with melted Dairy Milk chocolate and another Ritz cracker on top. After a quick set in the fridge, the treat were ready to enjoy.
Paige claimed that they’re “so easy and quick to make”, adding that they satisfy “everything [she has] been craving” in the years since Cadbury axed the sweet and savoury treat.
Ending her now viral video, Paige appealed directly to Dairy Milk and Ritz to bring back her “absolute favourite” bar of chocolate. But, in the meantime, accepted her homemade version would have to do.
The clip on TikTok has been viewed more than 84,000 times and flooded with comments – but people did notice something about Paige’s recipe that made them do a quick double take. One said: “Not the cheese ones!” Another added: “I think it’s supposed to be the salted ones, deffo not the cheese ones!” A third wrote: “I didn’t expect the cheesy ritz!”
Paige supported the somewhat odd combination of cheese and chocolate, responding to one comment: “Honestly, it’s still so good!” Many TikTok users went on to praise the foodie for taking matters into her own hands.
Someone else commented: “Omg I’m so glad I’ve seen this, I thought I was imagining the Ritz dairy milk as nobody knew what I was talking about! I’m so going to make these!” A fifth TikTok user replied: “I bet these taste better than the real ones!”
Another more posted: “NEED THESE! Why have I never thought to do this before!” And, one more wrote: “Omg as a vegan who always wanted to try those bars this is genius. I need to try these with vegan chocolate!”
According to the internet, the Dairy Milk Ritz collaboration first hit shelves in 2014. But, unlike the version cooked up by Paige, the official version used small Ritz rectangular crackers that were salted, not cheese.
The sharing-sized bar was discontinued in 2018, much to the disappointment of fans. At the time, Cadbury explained on X (then Twitter) that the bar had been removed from production.
The major chocolate manufacturer regularly makes room for new products on shop shelves, meaning some need to leave and make space. Just recently, shoppers have spotted unique flavours like Cola Fizz as well as S’mores and Iced Latte versions.
However, fans never stop begging for the return of long-forgotten favourites. Looking at requests to Cadbury UK on X, chocoholics are pining for the revival of classics like the Dream, Dairy Milk Crispies, Fuse, and Spira bars.
In addition to social media, people can make suggestions directly on the Cadbury website by filling out the form. Thanks to fans’ input, several chocolate bars have been given nostalgia-inducing revivals, so it’s always worth submitting your case to Cadbury—you might not be the only one!
