Sarah Ferguson has paid a sweet tribute to the Lionesses ahead of the triumphant victory against Spain at the Euros final, which appeared to correct a blunder made by King Charles, who also wished England’s team good luck. The Royal Family were united in wishing our national women’s football team good luck ahead of the final match in Basel. Prince William and Princess Charlotte even flew to Switzerland for the special occasion.
However, some fans noted that the Royal Family’s good luck message to the Lionesses ahead of the match failed to mention or show Michelle Agyemang in the collage. The 19-year-old Arsenal forward was a key player in England’s progress through the Euros.
She scored crucial equalisers against Sweden in the quarter-final and Italy in the semi-final.
The King’s message to the Lionesses read: “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you, the proud Lionesses, our warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the U.E.F.A EURO tournament.
“Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated. Knowing the Lionesses’ fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.
“Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible. Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more.”
But Fergie’s message appeared to heavily feature Agyemang, correcting the blunder in the King’s message.
She said in a reel posted ahead of Sunday’s final on Instagram, showing images of the Euros: “Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly, wow. Your teamwork in the last match, all the Lionesses, the entire team. You are incredible!
“You are an inspiration, you’re magical and you’re just going to rock it tomorrow. You show such bravery, courage and it’s just extortionary. Wow,” her emotional tribute continued.
“Good luck tomorrow and.. It’s just exciting to watch. Oh amazing, well done.”
Yesterday, Fergie also took to her Instagram stories to congratulate England’s team, sharing a picture of the group and sending the message: “WOW! A huge congratulations to our Lionesses! You are incredible!!”
On Sunday, Prince William was also among those to congratulate the star striker on being named young player of the tournament.
William exchanged words with Agyemang, appearing to say “well played, fantastic, well done”.
