Lloyds Bank and Halifax to close 86 more branches in 2025 – full list | UK | News

The unstoppable march of bank closures is set to bring more misery to Britain’s high streets as hundreds more of the financial hubs are set to close their doors. The elderly and customers who don’t want to bank online face increasingly no choice as more of the UK’s banking giants desert our towns and cities.

Since January 2015, a staggering 6,214 branches have shut up shop, which is the equivalanet of an astonishing 53 closures every month. And sadly there seems to be no stopping what seems like a runaway train of change hitting towns and cities hard for the past decade.

Lloyds, Natwest and Spanish banking giant Santander have all confirmed closures on the horizon, as well as the Bank of Scotland, which is part of the Lloyds Banking Group.

According to the Metro NatWest has confirmed 54 further branch closures, followed by Santander with 42 sites. Lloyds look set to close around 50 sites, and Halifax are expected to shut 32.

Bucking the trend, HSBC has said it won’t announce any more closures until at least 2026, and Nationwide has said it will stop any closures until 2028. American banking firm Metro Bank said it was opening three new branches in Gateshead, Chester, and Salford.
