‘Proud’ Prince William and Princess Kate prepare to cheer Lionesses at Euro 2025 final | Royal | News

A “proud” Prince William and Princess Kate have issued a heartwarming message to the Lionesses who hope to roar to victory once again tomorrow in the Women’s Euro 2025 final. The Prince of Wales will press pause on his summer holiday and will hope to be the Lionesses’ lucky charm as he heads to Switzerland on Sunday for the final.

Acknowledging Sarina Wiegman’s side’s nailbiting comebacks Kate and William have wished the Lionesses “Good luck” as they prepare to face Spain in what is likely to be another dramatic watch for England fans. The statement read: “Good luck to the Lionesses tomorrow. The nation is so proud you are through to the final, after some stunning comebacks! We are all cheering you on!”.

Earlier this month, the prince, who is Patron of the FA, headed to Zurich to cheer on the team as they played the Netherlands during the group stages of the competition.

The Wales family, like the rest of the Royal Family, enjoy a break from royal duties over July and August following a hectic schedule of engagements. However, William will break away from his summer holiday to cheer on the Lionesses.

It is not yet known whether children Prince George and Princess Charlotte will join him to watch the match.

And before they travelled to Europe to defend their title, William visited the team at England’s national football centre in St. George’s Park. There, he heard from head coach Sarina Wiegman and other senior FA personnel on how the team was preparing for the tournament.

The Prince of Wales saw the Lionesses win against Germany in the Euro 2022 final.

It comes after the Lionesses won in extra-time against Italy on Tuesday, thanks to striker Chloe Kelly’s dramatic winner after 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang’s equalised in the 96th minute.

The game attracted 10.2million viewers — making it the most-watched TV show of 2025 so far.

Shortly after the win, King Charles shared a celebratory message.

He said: “Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible.

“Good luck, England.

“May you roar to victory once more. Charles R.”
