Gardeners urged to do 1 thing with banana peels

If you are a gardener, you should never throw out your banana peels. That’s what the experts say, because there is a simple trick that you can use that will be very beneficial to your garden plants. British households throw out huge amounts of banana peels daily, not realising the amount of uses they actually have. Next time you peel and eat a banana, consider making banana peel water as a fertilizer for your plants.

A number of gardening experts have recommended banana water for plants. Banana peels are good for plants because they are full of potassium, phosphorus, and other important nutrients. These things help your plants with root growth and flowering. There are many ways to incorporate banana peels into your garden, but perhaps one of the most effective ways of doing it is to make banana peel water, or banana peel tea.

It is also pretty simple. Keep your banana peel and put it into a mason jar with water. Let that sit for about a week, and then remove the peels.

Before using it in your garden, you should dilute the mixture a bit to make sure it is not too acidic. When it comes to applying it to your garden, you should spray it at the base of the plant.

As well as providing your plants with nutrients that will help them thrive, banana peels can also act as a pest repellent, keeping things like aphids away from your flowers and other plants.

If you don’t want to wait a week for your banana water, there are other ways you can incorporate banana peels into your garden to benefit your plants. You can cut up the peels into smaller pieces and plant them directly in the soil to allow them to release the beneficial nutrients.

You can also blend them with some water to make a slurry that you can then place on your soil. Or, you can simply throw your banana peels into your compost bin to incorporate them into what you are already using.

While they can be beneficial, banana peels won’t be enough for your plants on their own. This method should be used to give your plant growth an extra boost on top of the compost and fertiliser you are already using.
