The news has certainly piqued motorists’ interests with consumers starting to take an interest in Leapmotor’s larger C10 SUV. Philipp Sayler von Amende, Chief Commercial Officer at Carwow stressed the news was “resonating with drivers” who are keen to take a look.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Philipp said: “When we look at our data at a car brand and model level, one of the most striking developments has been the rise of Leapmotor. The Chinese brand’s C10 saw an 867% jump in enquiries and a 362% increase in configurations on Carwow in the past week alone.
“Leapmotor’s decision to launch its own EV grant of £3,750 available now – mirroring the government’s scheme – appears to be resonating with UK drivers. With over 46,000 visits to Carwow Group’s EV grant webpages, it’s clear that there’s huge appetite from the public to understand this new subsidy and how it might apply to their next car purchase.”
From the outside, the all-electric C10 SUV looks clean and polished wth a rear light bar, flush door handles, and LED lighting. The model can reach 0-62mph in just 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of around 106mph.
The model is also fitted with a 69.9kWh battery pack, with drivers set to enjoy a WLTP range of up to 263 miles. Leapmotor confirmed the subsidy on its vehicles just days after Labour confirmed the EV grant would be coming into effect.
Leapmotor said: “Why wait for the government? Leapmotor UK is giving drivers an instant head start with our very own electric car grant – and it’s available now.
“We’re the first car brand in the UK to offer its very own electric car grant, since the government announced their scheme. But while the government’s scheme is yet to kick in for consumers, you can save up to £3,750 right now on a Leapmotor electric car.”
